Pre-inspection




Pre-inspection

Complete immigration inspection of airport passengers before departure from a foreign country. No further immigration inspection is required upon arrival in the United States other than submission for nonimmigrant aliens.

The removing into one place from another.

Inspection
1) Common law. The examination of certain articles made by law subject to such examination, so that they may be declared fit for commerce. The decision of the inspectors is not final; the object' of the law is to protect the community from fraud, and to preserve the character of the merchandise abroad. 2) Practice. Examination.

Departure
Maritime law. A deviation from the course of the voyage insured.

Submission
1) A yielding to authority. A citizen is bound to submit to the laws; a child to his parents; a servant to his master. A victor may enforce, the submission of his enemy. 2) Contracts. An agreement by which persons who have a law-suit or difference with one another, name arbitrators to decide the matter, and bind themselves reciprocally to perform what shall be arbitrated.

Nonimmigrant
An alien who seeks temporary entry to the United States for a specific purpose. The alien must have a permanent residence abroad (for most classes of admission) and qualify for the nonimmigrant classification sought.

Pre-emption
International law. The right of preemption is the right of a nation to detain the merchandise of strangers passing through her territories or seas, in order to afford to her subjects the preference of purchase.

Pre-emption rights
Where a company proposes to issue new shares, existing shareholders may have the right to be offered a pro-rata part of the new shares before they are offered to a new shareholder. These pre-emption rights may be disapplied either generally or in relation to a particular new issue by a provision in the Articles of Association or a special resolution. In relation to sales of existing shares, similar rights require a shareholder wishing to sell shares to offer them first to existing shareholders before being able to transfer to outsiders.

Preferred shares
A share in a company that has some kind of special right or privilege attached to it, such as that it is distinguished from the company's common shares. The most common special right is a preference over holders of common shares when dividends are declared. Another, is for the preferred shares to be redeemable at the option of either the holder or the company. Still another might be to disallow voting rights to preferred shareholders. Depending on the local laws in your state, there may be no limit to the qualifications a company can attach to preferred shares. For example, a family company may only allow holders of preferred shares to use a recreational property belonging to the company.

Pregnancy
med. jurisp. This is defined by medical writer; to be the state of a female who has within her ovary or womb, a fecundated germ which gradually becomes developed in the latter receptaale.

Pregnant
Pleading. A fulness in the pleadings which admits or involves a matter which is favorable to the opposite party. It is either an affirmative pregnant, or negative pregnant.

Prehension
The lawful taking of a thing with an intent to, assert a right in it.

Preinjunction
Court order requiring action or forbidding action until a decision can be made whether to issue a permanent injunction. It differs from a temporary restraining order.

To decide beforehand; to lean in favor of one side of a cause for some reason or other than its justice.

Prelate
The name of an ecclesiastical officer. There are two orders of prelates; the first is composed of bishops, and the second, of abbots, generals of orders, deans, &c.;

Prelevement
French law. The portion which a partner is entitled to take out of the assets of a firm before any sion shall be made of the remainder of the assets, between the partners.

Preliminary
Something which precedes, as preliminaries of peace, which are the first sketch of a treaty, and contain the principal articles on which both parties are desirous of concluding, and which are to serve as the basis of the treaty.

Preliminary hearing
Also, preliminary examination. A hearing by a judge to determine whether a person charged with a crime should be held for trial.
