Oyer
OyerPleading. Oyer is a French word signifying to hear; in pleading it is a prayer or petition to the court, that the party may hear read to him the deed, &c., stated in the pleadings of the opposite party, aud which deed is by intendment of law in court, when it is pleaded with a profert. Where a deed is necessary, there are special requirements for a company wishing to enter into such an arrangement which may either involve use of the company or the signature of two directors or a director and a company secretary. Pleadings That part of a party's case in which he or she formally sets out the facts and legal arguments which support that party's position. Pleadings can be in writing or they can be made verbally to a court, during the trial.
