MessengerA person appointed to perform certain duties, generally of a ministerial character. RELATED TERMS-------------------------------------- Person This word is applied to men, women and children, who are called natural persons. Duties In its most enlarged sense, this word is nearly equivalent to taxes, embracing all impositions or charges levied on persons or things; in its more restrained sense, it is often used as equivalent to customs or imposts. Ministerial That which is done under the authority of a superior; opposed to judidial; as, the sheriff is a ministerial officer bound to obey the judicial commands of the court. Character The qualities impressed by nature or habit on a person, which distinguish him from other persons. These constitute his real character; while the qualities he is supposed to possess constitute his estimated character or reputation.
