Liner termsLiner terms refer to the ordinary responsibility of the shipowner under a charterparty to control and pay for the loading, stowage, trimming and discharge of the cargo of the charterer. The proper arrangement in a ship, of the different articles of which a cargo consists, so that they may not injure each other by friction, or be damaged by the leakage of the ship. Discharge Practice. The act by which a person in confinement, under some legal process, or held on an accusation of some crime or misdemeauor, is set at liberty; the writing containing the order for his being so set at liberty, is also called a discharge.
