Lady's friend

Lady's friendThe name of a functioner in the British house of commons. When the husband sues for a divorce, or asks the passage of an act to divorce him from his wife, he is required to make a provision for her before the passage of the act; it is the duty of the lady's friend to see that such a provision is made.

Collaborative divorce involves two clients and two attorneys who work together to reach a settlement with best possible result for both parties after negotiations of financial issues and custody. The law is used to impose a decision only when there is a disagreement brought into court. When children are involved, the judge might take a look at the terms to make sure they are well supported and protected.
