Insurance attorney

An insurance lawyer is someone providing legal advice and counsel on various aspects of insurance law. He or she is a provider of claims payment assistance.

Insurance
Contracts. It is defined to be a contract of indemnity from loss or damage arising upon an uncertain event.

Lawyer

1) Com. When one merchant draws upon another, he generally advises him of the fact. These letters are intended to give notice of the facts they contain. 2) Practice. The opinion given by counsel to their clients; this should never be done but upon mature deliberation to the best of the counsel's ability; and without regard to the consideration whether it will affect the client favorably or unfavorably.

Counsel
1) Advice given to another as to what he ought to do or not to do. 2) An officer of court. One who undertakes to conduct suits and actions in court. The same as counsellor. 3) Practice, Criminal law. In the oath of the grand jurors, there is a provision requiring them to keep secret " the commonwealth's counsel, their fellows, and their own." In this sense this word is synonymous with knowledge.

Law
A rule or body of rules of conduct inherent in human nature and essential to or binding upon human society. The learned profession that is mastered by graduate study in a law school and that is responsible for the judicial system.

Payment
1) Contracts. That which is given to execute what has been promised; or it is the fulfilment of a promise. Solvere dicimus cum quis fecit, quod facere promisit. But though this is the general acceptation of the word, yet by payment is understood, every way by which the creditor is satisfied or ought to be, and the debtor, liberated for example, an accord and satisfaction will operate as a payment. 2) Pleadings. The name of a plea by which the defendant alleges that he has paid the debt claimed in the declaration; this plea must conclude to the country.

Assistance
A French term, reflecting the civilian equivalent of salvage, based on the Roman law concept of negotiorum gestio (management of the business of another), whereby the "assistant" is remunerated for his efforts to save ship and cargo, regardless of whether or not those efforts are successful. In French internal law, "assistance", referring to salvage of a ship, cargo, and/or persons in peril at sea, is distinguished from "sauvetage".
