Cry de pays

Cry de pays or cri de pais. Literally, cry of the country. In England, when a felony has been committed, hue and cry may be raised by the country, in the absence of the constable. It is then cry de pays.

Cross-demand
Counter-demand. A demand set up as against another demand on which claim is or can be made; a set-off.

Cross-examination
In trials, each party calls witnesses. Each party may also question the other's witness(es).
